I think I honestly learned more from alphabet soup. I had a set back last week with my vehicle, so I was trapped at home. I went to approach this assignment then I realized it would be excellent to put my Caribbean photography to use. I soon as I seen the H, t, A, and X from my selections, I thought it worked perfect.
I did ask permission to the person that was the "other." It was ok. My photo of him was not a set up (the background anyway). But I didn't crop it or photoshop it in any way. I sought to catch it as a photo with nature being as beautiful as it could. Then my friend, he was just concentrated on having a fun time. I thought that was priceless*
In answering more of the questions pertaining to lighting, I felt in the alphabet letters that the lighting is what made X and A. The other ones weren't so affected by lighting like those two. I left all photos as they are* I believed they all implied their own adventures and I didn't want to tamper with how beautiful they turned out.

Reading and Reflective Essay
When it came to making images with letters, I copy and pasted a lot of duplicates. I spent time experimenting with rotation tactics and opacity levels. I believed that Y,W,V,T, and Z were the best letters for the style I sought to come up with. I really liked creating images with letters because the overall product was pretty cool. I used different colors and sizes to connect most of the letters together with eachother.
I really liked the V and the Z the most because it came out as a collage that seemed pretty interesting. I looked at Kellies work and I realized that I implemented my own style. I never knew it would actually develop this way but after seeing my fifth piece of work, the Z, I really felt rewarded because it showed that I got better at creating such things. I really like my fifth one the most because of the shape and dimension it has.
All in all, I'm glad things turned out the way they did. I got lost in making sense of these images but before this assignment, I didn't believe it would be easy or feasible to create images from a single letter with the same font. I left the background white so that the images could stand out from eachother. It was pretty cool.

Reading and Reflective Essay
At first I didn't know how to create something from the template. I gained a better understanding after seeing a fellow classmates example that ended up being a dinosaur.
As I made this, I was thinking about a bum on a log. What would such a character being wearing? A simple blue shirt and some blue jeans. I made him have dark hair. If it all comes together like it should, I imagined something basic and simple. I didn't want to over complicate things by trying to hard to be complex. I used the fill and shape tools through photoshop. Then once the three basic colors were in place, I went over some of the squares with a white brush tool that was thin. A small sized brush. After that, I used the smudge tool to try a create an affect that is realistic with street cloths. I meant to make it seem as if there was casual wrinkles in his blue jeans and on his shirt.
The outcome for this assignment reminds me of potato head from my child hood. I would of liked to make something more intricate. I didn't want to over do anything though. When I first began to approach this assignment, I felt confused because I didn't see how the cubes connected. Then professor Don showed me a web site that made it better to understand the results of the default template. I'm curious to see others peoples work too because if some of these get printed out, I'm sure it could create great imagination. My image is kind of odd because I made his eyes slightly different on purpose. I meant to show a facial expression that was sort of distraught or even confused. But by trying to keep it simple, his dark hair and faded jeans seem interesting to me.

Reading And Reflective Essay
(This will be more complete after I have a meeting with my professor)
At first, I was unable to approach the image creation. After seeing some of the work that the rest of the class has done, I have a better idea of how to go about creating some images that are more surreal. I really like the experimenting aspect of it. I also feel like I can embed videography into the blog as well just to give it more artistic dimension.
I plan to modify my blog page and enhance my images now that I know the perimeters. Had a rough first week but feel more focused to my projects. I am looking forward to using brushes, scales, and an array of colors. I am needing to learn how to mask layers so I can further the depth of each image. I have only began working with photoshop. So I don't feel too hard on myself for not being able to master images like I'd like to.
After tomorrow, I'll have a chance to ask the professor some things. Then I'll snap back into my blog of digital media foundation. I have made other blogs before and if there was some way to incorporate those blogs with this one, I think it could benefit my standing in this class. I made blogs about my adventures in Ireland and the Virgin Islands.
My first scratch images are a little boring. I will probably make more and then either replace or improve my first three images.

After creating new images, I felt like I had a better idea of how to approach this assignment. It was interesting to create the desert of flat colors and images. It feels like a cartoon image of Egypt. The second image was a lot better. I found some very fascinating brushes that created a realistic image of grass and hills. From there I was able to portray an autumn walk into the horizon. One tree standing out from it all. I really liked that image a lot. And the third one I created was a surreal collage of different brushes. Stars, symbols, and layers with different colors. This wasn't meant to make sense. It was designed for losing myself in something surreal. I increased and decreased the size of the brushes and created a complex collage of it all.
